    The Scituate Historical Society presents The History of the Flying Santa of the Lighthouses, 1929-2017 Thursday, November 9th, 7PM at the GAR Hall, 353 Country Way, Scituate The aerial visits of Flying Santa to lighthouses and lifesaving stations have been a New England tradition since 1929. Today, the nonprofit organization Friends of Flying Santa works to continue the flights as a gesture of gratitude to the men, women, and families of the Coast Guard who keep watch over our coastal waters. In this multimedia presentation, author Jeremy D'Entremont and Brian Tague, president of Friends of Flying Santa, will relate the colorful history of the Flying Santa from 1929 to the present day. Jeremy D'Entremont is the author of more than 15 books on lighthouses and related subjects and serves on the board of directors of Friends of Flying Santa. Tickets are $10. Reservations may be made by calling the Society at 781-545-1083 or by Visiting the Little Red School House on Cudworth Road they are also available at the door.
